For the best in Exmoor riding - come riding Exmoor with Doone Valley Trekking

Safe Riding

Horse riding has personal risks attached to it, wherever or however you do it. At Doone Valley Trekking we do our upmost to ensure that all our riders have safe, enjoyable rides. However, if you undertake to ride with us, we must stress that it is not possible in all circumstances to anticipate, eliminate or control the risks involved. Any equestrian activity carries a risk of accident and riders must acknowledge this and the risk to themselves of personal injury.

We can provide riding hats for all riders at no extra cost. If riders bring their own riding hats, they should conform to the current minimum standard (eg. EN1384). Apart from this, formal riding gear is neither required nor essential. We do, however, recommend that riders wear trousers and boots or shoes with a low heel. For longer rides, jodphurs and riding boots are best. It is also wise to check the weather forecast before riding and bring appropriate warm or waterproof clothing if necessary. And yes, we do have drying facilities on-site!

While riders of all ages are welcome, we would ask that all riders under the age of 16 years are accompanied by an adult.

While riders of all levels of riding ability are welcome, we ask riders to note that the terrain for hacking can be challenging and those wishing to hack out must be confident at all paces.

Any riders who are pregnant should have a doctor's note to verify their fitness for riding.

A note about insurance: We would strongly advise that riders have adequate personal or personal sports injury insurance to cover all eventualities. While Doone Valley Trekking Ltd is covered by the insurance appropriate to its activities as a riding establishment, each rider rides at his or her own risk. As a rider your insurance is your own responsibility. If you bring a horse to Doone Valley Trekking we recommend that you insure it for vet fees and your vehicle and tack against fire and theft risks. We would also recommend that you have adequate personal liability insurance.

The safest possible riding for all ages at Doone Valley Trekking

We recommend that all riders, particularly llittle ones, are suitably attired.
